Getting tickets to Andrew McMahon's show at the Muriel Kauffman Theatre in the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts promises an unforgettable night. McMahon has this rare ability to grow and evolve as an artist while still honoring his roots, from his early days with the band Something Corporate to the massive success of his solo project Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. His debut album, Leaving Through the Window, dropped in the early 2000s and made waves with hits like I Woke Up in a Car, those songs still hit different, even years later. Watching him perform live, especially in a space as intimate and elegant as the Kauffman, feels like catching up with an old friend who just happens to be a rock star. His stripped-down versions of songs like Cecilia and the Satellite are genuinely moving, showing off his knack for reinventing his sound without losing the heart of the music. Plus, the venue itself is super comfortable, with great sightlines and top-notch snacks and drinks to keep you fueled for the night. If you're into live music that feels authentic and heartfelt, this is one of those nights that sticks with you.
